Lawn Sprinkling Restrictions


So as to comply with Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Lake Michigan Water Allocation Rules and Regulations lawn sprinkling is restricted May 15th through September 15th of every year as follows:

Manual Sprinkling


Manual sprinkling or manual use of an irrigation system; it shall be unlawful for any person, contractor, firm, or corporation to use Lake Michigan water for the sprinkling or irrigation of lawns or gardens (“outdoor watering”) on any day of the week, except between 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an odd/even basis, using the last digit of the property address and the calendar date. Odd addresses are prohibited from outdoor watering on both the 31st day and on the 1st day of the next month, thus watering on consecutive days.

Automatic Sprinkling


Automatic or timed sprinkling or irrigation systems; it shall be unlawful for any person, contractor, firm or corporations to use Lake Michigan water for the sprinkling or irrigation of lawns or gardens (“outdoor watering”) on any day of the week, except between the hours of Midnight (midnight) and 5 a.m. on an odd/even basis based on the last digit of the property address and the calendar date. Odd addresses are prohibited from outdoor watering on both the 31st day and on the 1st day of the next month, thus watering on consecutive days.
