2020 Census

The U.S. Census Bureau will soon begin to follow-up with households that haven’t responded to the Census. The majority of Census offices will begin follow-up work on August 11. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, no matter the location. You can respond to the Census at 2020census.gov, by phone at (844) 330-2020, or by mail.

Palos Park Police Information Session

August 13, 2020 at 11:00 am

Village Council Room (Social Distancing practices will apply). The Palos Park Police Department is offering an overview to young people interested in law enforcement, with a focus on the opportunities for females and teens looking into the PPPD Cadet program and future careers. Officers Diana Campbell, Danielle Scaccia, Michelle Marano and Lindsey Campione will host the informative presentation open to all young men and women exploring policing. This program is a way to provide young men and women with role models and mentors who can guide them and help them to be successful. These officers recognize the impact having a mentor had on each of them and hope to do the same for young adults interested in a career in law enforcement.

2020 Fall Tree Planting Program

Each year residents are given the opportunity to have one tree added to the landscaping in the Village right of way adjacent to their property. There is no cost to the resident for the tree or the planting; however, residents are asked to water the tree until the tree is established (typically during the fall and again the next spring).

If you are interested in having one tree planted in the right of way:

1. Check the 2020 Tree Availability List and choose a tree you would like planted.

2. Call the Village Hall at (708) 671-3700 and request to be put on the Fall Tree Planting List. You will need to give your Name, Address, Phone Number, and the name of the tree you have selected. If you do not select a tree you may not receive a tree.

The deadline for tree requests is 5:00 pm on August 31, 2020. There is a limited number of trees available through the program. Trees may be limited due to tree availability at the time of planting. Please note that trees cannot be planted in the right of ways along State, County or Private Streets. The Village Arborist will visit each site in September to check if the species of tree selected has enough room and can thrive in the location selected. The Village Arborist will make the final decision if a requested tree can or cannot be planted. Trees will be planted by itrees.com during late Fall.
