General Election
THE PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTION IS NOVEMBER 4, 2008. VOTER REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN. YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN, AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD BY ELECTION DAY, AND A RESIDENT OF YOUR PRECINCT AT LEAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO AN ELECTION. YOUR REGISTRATION IS PERMANENT UNLESS YOU MOVE OR CHANGE YOUR NAME. IF YOU HAVE MOVED WITHIN SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY, YOU MUST RE-REGISTER. YOU MUST RE-REGISTER WITH THE LOCAL ELECTION AUTHORITY OR COUNTY CLERK IF YOU MOVE TO AN ADDRESS OUTSIDE SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY. VOTERS, WHO LEGALLY CHANGE THEIR NAME, BUT NOT THEIR ADDRESS, DO NOT HAVE TO RE-REGISTER. REGISTRATION CAN BE DONE AT THE KAPTUR ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER.

VOTER REGISTRATION
If you are a U.S. Citizen and will be 18 years old on or before the next election, you can vote. You must register at least one month before the election. Registering to vote is easy. You will need 2 pieces of identification, one with your preprinted address, such as a utility bill, driver's license or preprinted checkbook; the other should have your signature, such as a credit card. Photo IDs are not required

Residents of Palos Township may register in the Kaptur Administrative Center Clerk's Office Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm: or after-hours and weekends by phoning the Clerk at (708)671-3704 or (708)671-3706.

VOTE
Election Day is always on a Tuesday. You may vote at any time from 6am to 7pm. If you are physically unable to get to your polling place or will be out of town on Election Day, you may vote by absentee ballot in person or by mail, or vote in the Village Office. In-house/in-person absentee voting is conducted 3 weeks prior to election day ceasing the day before the election. Call for more information.

Please note: If you mail-in your registration, you must vote in person the first time you vote, so absentee voting would not be an option for you.
