ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
Sunday, April 20

JON 'RUNNING DEER' at KAPTUR ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER
Jon “Running Deer” Jordan will reach back into the mythology of his Sioux ancestry to present this program. Jon will be wearing authentic Native American clothing and accessories. All attending children will be invited to sit in buffalo hides as they are taken back in time to learn about the American Buffalo and it’s role in Native life. MORE>

TREE GIVEAWAY
All who attend the “Arbor Day” celebration will receive FREE trees for participating. Over 300 Flame Amur Maple, Pink Smoke Tree, and Eastern Ninebark Seedlings will be passed out during the festivities from 1pm to 3pm.

Arbor Day Celebration sponsored by Tree Body and Garden Guild.


NATIONAL EARTH DAY
Tuesday, April 22

LIBRARY PROGRAMS CELEBRATE EARTH DAY

Children's Earth Day Recycling Craft
4:30-5:15 pm, Ages 5 and up. Kids can support "Celebrate Green Earth Week in the Park" by creating a special craft for Earth Day. Call to register for this craft.

Adventures with John James Audubon
Tuesday, April 22nd, 6:30 pm. This adult program features storyteller Brian "Fox" Ellis portrays one of America’s greatest naturalists and wildlife artists in this fascinating program. Celebrate Earth Day and support "Celebrate Green Earth Week in the Park" with John James Audubon.  Call to register for this program.

GREEN EARTH FUN DAY
Saturday, April 26

SPRING FUN RUN
Enjoy this annual family fun activity and appreciate the natural beauty of Palos Park along the way. Race begins at Palos Park Recreation Center. The course features gently rolling hills and is an excellent challenge course. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate. Trophies will be awarded three deep in each age division for the 5K and 1-mile event. Refreshments are served at the conclusion of the race.

8:00am 1 Mile Run, 14 and under
9:00am 5K Run for everyone

CROOKED ARROW CROSSING CAFE
Crooked Arrow Crossing Cafe will be furnishing refreshments of coffee, juice, muffins and more for purchase from a Crooked Arrow Crossing Cafe booth at the Palos Park Recreation Center for Race and
Rid Litter Participants.

RID LITTER DAY
Meet at 9:00am
the Palos Park Recreation Center with the Beautification Committee. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this village-wide event. Every year, residents come together to get gloves and bags and then embark to different roadways throughout our village to pick up debris. Bags are filled and left on the roadside, bags are later picked up for proper disposal. Each year our residents pick between 70 and 80 bags of roadway trash, making Palos Park a more beautiful place. Rain or Shine  First 50 participants receive FREE T-Shirt and Goodie Bag.   MORE INFO►

Additional Parking for Spring Fun Run and Rid Litter Day is available at the Kaptur Center and Presbyterian Church.

If you can't join us, please see that any litter on and around your property is picked up!

PET PARADE
Meet at 12:00pm at Palos South Woods.
Join neighbors and their furry companions for this annual event to show off your pet and enjoy the scenery throughout the village. Millcreek Animal Clinic on hand to answer your questions. GreenEarth Celebration items available.

RECYCLE IN PALOS PARK

  • SHARE YOUR SOLES donate your gently worn shoes at Palos Park Recreation Center. Designer shoes are especially needed because they can be auctioned on ebay for money.  The money is used to ship the shoes. 

  • RECYCLE BINS for glass, magazines and newspapers at Recreation Center.

  • EYE GLASSES: Bring your gently used eyeglasses to the Library to donate.

  • FREE MAILERS available at the Palos Park Post Office for used printer cartridges.

  • WEBSITE Have an unusual item you'd like to recycle? Visit the Palos Park Website's Recycle Resource called "RECYCLE PALOS! at www.palospark.org/recycle.
