PPPD officers arrested a Midlothian man in an alleged Rolex
scam
A Midlothian man offering to sell Rolex watches valued at
$11,000 + for only $125 or best offer on Craigslist,
attracted the attention of investigators and the Swiss
company that makes the timepieces.
The seller, 44 years old, now faces is facing charges of
Unlawful Use of a Trademark/ Counterfeiting Trademarks,
after he sold a fake Rolex to a private investigator working
undercover for the watchmaker.
The investigation began when Rolex and their investigators
spotted the Craigslist ad for Rolex. An investigator set up
a controlled buy of a Rolex in Palos Park.
The undercover investigator for Rolex and seller met in a
Palos Park parking lot and made the sale. The investigation
is continuing, and more charges are possible.
