Branch Chipping Regulations
- Branches should not be set out any earlier then the weekend before the collection week.
- Branches placed out for chipping should measure between 3 feet and 8 feet in length and no greater than 6 inches in diameter. (Branches shorter than 3 feet in length should be placed in yard waste containers or paper yard waste bags and placed out on your garbage day.)
- Piles of branches should be no larger than 4 feet high and 10 feet in length. Any branches stacked outside of these parameters will not be collected.
- Stack branches neatly on the right of way with cut ends towards the street. Do not stack in the drainage swale. Piles of branches that are badly tangled together will not be picked up.
- Materials that cannot be chipped and will not be taken include; any type of branches that produce thorns, whether or not thorns are present at the time of chipping, including branches from Buckthorn and Hawthorn trees or rosebushes; any branches with roots attached; root balls; vines; poison ivy or poison oak; lumber; old rotted or friable wood; fencing; or railroad ties.
- Properties are allowed a maximum of 20 minutes of wood chipping time. Properties that front two or more streets receive a combined maximum of 20 minutes regardless of the number or where the piles are left on the right of way.
- Any branches/brush not collected due to any reason marked on the tag left the day of the chipping service must be moved back onto the private property within 24 hours after collection.
- Small debris, including raked-up material and bark, should not be left for the chipper. It will not be taken or cleaned up. Dispose of raked-up material, bark, or small debris in yard waste containers or paper yard waste bags and place out on your garbage day.
- Branches placed on the right of way for removal must have originated from the parcel where located.
- Landscapers or Groundskeepers hired to trim branches or remove trees are responsible for removing the trees and branches from the property. Landscapers or Groundskeepers should not pile branches in the right of way for the chipper service.
- Land clearing operations are to be removed by either the contractor or the use of a dumpster.
