Living & Visiting

Welcome to the Village of Palos Park

Welcome to life in the Village of Palos Park! Do you plan on making our community your new home? We assure you that we will help make Palos Park a great place to live for you and your family.

Palos Park was popularized over a century ago by weekend and seasonal travelers. Visitors fell in love with the natural beauty of the area and it became known to some as an artists’ colony. Palos Park continues to be an Arts Friendly community for residents and visitors. You will see, appreciate and enjoy the small-town feel of this community. One reason residents love Palos Park is for its profound natural features, hills, creeks, ravines, and wooded landscape.  A large area of our Village borders nearly 11,000 acres of Forest Preserve property. There are many opportunities for outdoor recreation along area trails in a setting that is truly unmatched. Folks can enjoy the outdoors all year by participating in a favorite activity, whether it be fishing, biking, horseback riding, hiking, cross-country skiing, and much more. Palos Park is a thriving community for people of all ages who enjoy life-long learning. We are part of a strong educational system that realizes the importance of cultivating relationships and sharing ideas. The colleges, high schools, and grammar schools in this area are consistently among the top in national rankings with our residents genuinely involved in their children’s education as well as their own. Schools have a strong academic curriculum but also teach the importance of community service. Palos Park offers a variety of many local events hosted by the Village and its Recreation Department throughout the year to help bring people together to enjoy our surroundings and each other.
