IDOT will be replacing two culverts underneath123rd Street; these culvert replacements are needed to provide stability to the roadway that traverses over these creek crossings. The project was awarded last fall to D Construction, Inc. at a cost of $1,450,818. Due to this IDOT project, 123rd Street is scheduled to close for construction of the culverts at Elm St. and 93rd Ave. on June 24, 2025. The road will be closed to through traffic from just west of Elm Street, to just west of 93rd Avenue. Access will be allowed for those living in this area, however, please proceed with caution and watch out for construction activities. Because of the scope of the project, the Village is required to relocate its watermain within the limits of the construction activity. The contractor hired by the Village, Airy’s Inc., will start on June 25th to lower the Village water main at the Elm Street culvert location. Once the water main is lowered, D Construction will begin work on the new culvert. At the same time, the Village’s contractor, Airy’s Inc. will move to the 93rd Street culvert to lower the Village water main in that location, followed by culvert replacement by D Construction. At this time, IDOT anticipates that both culverts will be completed, and the road reopened in mid-November 2025. Thank you for your patience during these important infrastructure improvements. |
